Happy Tuesday, friends!
I wanted to get your opinion on something I’ve been thinking about for a while: a redesign of One Busy WAHM.
Since embarking on a ‘New Me’ mission this year (health, weight loss, dental braces… ), I no longer feel the current blog design is a good fit. It’s kinda neutral and ‘safe’. Whereas, I feel bright and colourful and alive!
Whilst I’m quite confident in redesigning a blog structure, I’m not afraid to admit that design creativity is not my strong point. But I feel like the blog could use a redesign. I don’t know… maybe I’ve just gotten tired of looking at the same thing every day.
Times have changed. I’ve changed. Gotta keep up, y’all 😀
Time For One Busy WAHM 2.0?
Is there anything you would like to see changed in One Busy WAHM 2.0? Or should the blog remain the same? Any changes to the layout or colours? Does it need a *pop* of colour, or does neutral work well for you? Would you like to see a new header / logo area? Do you like the current body / sidebar layout or would you prefer sidebar / content / sidebar? Do you like the multi-post preview on the homepage? Is the font okay – too big, too small, too pale?
More Contests and Giveaways?
I am very selective about the sponsored partnerships I accept on the blog – I value and appreciate my readers and don’t want to overwhelm you with a multitude of sponsored content. But tell me, would you like me to run more brand-sponsored contests and giveaways?
Content
Here at One Busy WAHM, I cover everything from parenting to weight loss to recipes and craft – essentially, life as a busy working mum. What do you want to see more of? I know from all the comments and private messages that I get, that my weight loss journey has inspired so many of you to embark on your own. Do you want to see more of my journey? The healthy family-friendly recipes that I cook at home that’s helped me on my journey? Let me know!
Advertisements?
How about the ads? Are they well placed? Do they get in the way? I know most people would prefer no ads, but they do help to pay the blog rent and help keep me motivated to write.
Share Your Thoughts
I know how busy you are, but I could sure use your help in the comments.
If you could change anything about the design of One Busy WAHM, what would you change? Please take a minute to throw some thoughts and ideas at me in the comments section below.
Thank you. I appreciate you!
Natalie

I think more colourful would be a great way to redesign. I only just did mine and already want to change it again! x

Ha, glad to see it’s not just me that gets all twitchy if I’ve not changed something on my blog for a little while!

Hi Natalie, I love your blog design! When you tidied up a few weeks/months ago I thought you made it look professional. Your photos look great, especially with info added in a circle on the photo (such as ‘before’ and ‘after’ and I like your header.
Always up for freebies, though wouldn’t say I necessarily enter giveaways on people’s blogs…maybe just haven’t found any I like?! Your ads don’t seem intrusive.
Perhaps when you live with your blog every hour it’s easy to want a change, though visually I think you’re spot on. I would be interested in any tech advice/blogging networking you’d like to share, if you fancy adding a further dimension to OBW!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed reply. I appreciate that!
Your words are very kind – and yes, I think I get bored easily. I see my blog kinda like my home. Time to fluff the cushions and change the curtains. Again.
I did start to write some blog-related articles (way back!) and I’m not quite sure why I stopped. Let me know if you have anything specific you would like me to share and I’ll add it to my blogging schedule!

This is the first time I have come across your blog, but it does look professional… but maybe a bit of colour if that’s the way you are feeling?? I have always been told it is YOUR blog…Your little corner of the internet, so do WHAT, and SAY what you feel… so if you feel it needs some colour, add it, if you like it like this, keep it like this… follow your heart, this is your baby….

Hello! Thank you for stopping by
Yes, I think an injection of colour somewhere is totally needed – more reflective of the new me! I totally agree with keeping it personal, and I will. There is just such a fab little community of regular blog visitors that stop by – I value and appreciate your feedback so much.

I love your safe neutral blog and your logo. It’s refreshing to read because it’s not loud and in your face! That said, I’m not keen on ad banners like the one you have at the top. That’s probably just me though. Love the content! x

I love the simplicity, but a pop of color would work. Your photos are lovely. I think if you do add a bit of color, you should maybe bring it into to the logo too, but just a teensy bit; Your pages always look clean and fresh, but I know what you mean about seeing the same thing day-in, day-out and getting twitchy.
By the way, I cracked up at the “y’all” LOL
Natalie says
Hey Ann – thanks for the great comments. I think a ‘pop’ of colour is most definitely on the agenda!

Hi Natalie, i spoke to you on FB a couple of nights ago. My thoughts are basically the same as i said. I like your simple unfussy overall design. The only thing I would change is to make the header a bit more popping. If you know what I mean!
Thanks for your feedback on my blog. xxx

I would be interested to know more about how you changed job so quickly in March! It’s a teaser for me to read that as I’m looking to be a wahm and leave my office job but am not sure where to start! Perhaps you know more about good opportunities for mums who want to work at home? Your blog has a clean style to it and is not overloaded which is refreshing! Yes, inject some colour, but just keep your blog style as it is as it’s inspiring! I look forward to reading your posts!
