The days may still be warm and the sun still shining, but all around are tell-tale signs that Summer 2013 is drawing to a close.
The hustle and bustle of shoe shops as mum’s patiently queue to have little feet measured. Braving the expense of back-to-school shoes for the new Autumn term about to start…
The little acorns that have started sprouting on the trees which line the path of our nightly dog walk…
The excitement of the children as they watch blackberry bushes begin to bear fruit, and turn from vibrant red to the darkest black…
… and the greengrocers shelves lined with delicious winter vegetables. Celeriac, parsnip, leek, carrot and potato… a ‘homemade-soup-in-a-crockpot-feast‘ if ever saw one!
As the nights draw closer and I reach for a cardigan to ward off the early evening chill, I look back at the Summer of 2013 with so much fondness.
This has been our best summer EVER! We’ve had so much fun. So many memories that we have shared together, and which the children will never forget, such as our first ever camping trip. The first of many we hope to enjoy in the years to come.
But it’s not with sadness that we say bye bye to summer. For we have new and exciting seasons ahead.
Bye bye summer.
